Manage & Analyze Your Data
Through a suite of services providing support for all levels of maturity, our team of data consultants, analysts, and scientists is committed to working with organizations to increase impact and social good.
Services Details, Costs, and Timelines
Many nonprofits use disparate systems to track financial information, funding sources, and a variety of programs. Tech Impact's Data Strategy Project is designed to help nonprofits document their data management and reporting needs across the organization and provide a data management strategy that provides recommended architecture, workflows, data mapping and reporting tools that the organization can use to implement the solutions.
Service Details
The engagement uses a standard data consulting approach that includes:
The Initiation Phase establishes the project logistics, reviews methodology, determines client project manager and team as well as confirms scope.
In the Discovery & Mapping Phase, Tech Impact will understand the organization's program and business requirements and document existing systems and data flows. This phase includes group meetings and individual interviews with key staff plus technical investigation of systems. Tech Impact will require access to systems in some cases. From this discovery, Tech Impact will develop an inventory of your current data systems and diagram how information flows within and between each department with an analysis of your current data systems gaps and overlaps will be completed.
The final Recommendation Phase combines the information learned during interviews and data mapping, with market research that draws on our extensive experience with non-profit organizations and the systems they use to identify possible data architectures that will meet the organization's needs.
Timeline
This service spans 8 - 10 weeks based on meeting frequency. The timeline assumes that all resource, meeting and access requests are all met within 2 weeks of the date they are made.
Tech Impact will collaborate with you and your stakeholders to create a single Power BI report with up to 6 visualizations to act as a proof of concept for Power BI use in your organization. This report will help you address key reporting challenges by allowing you to visualize key metrics, make informed decisions, and effectively demonstrate your impact, using this business intelligence tool. At the end of the project you will be able determine the value of extending its use within your organization.
The goal of this project is to create a report using the Power BI visualization capabilities, test the data connection to a key data source, determine the appropriate Power BI licenses for sharing the report, either by setting up a workspace or public link, and train one of your resources on the fundamentals of Power BI. By the end of this project, you will have one Power BI report, containing up to 6 visualizations.
Service Details
Tech Impact's Data Specialist will work with the organization's point of contact to provide education about Power BI and the project, gather necessary reporting requirements for up to 6 visualizations, and understand the existing data sources involved in the project. The project has three phases:
Discovery
During the discovery phase, meetings will be held to review the existing data that will be used to drive the report. This will involve defining the objective of the proof of concept, looking at existing reports, KPI definition, understanding where the underlying data resides, and sketching out the potential visualizations. This stage will create the basis for the report build.
Deployment
The deployment phase is when data connections are tested and made to the data sources, data is imported to the Power BI report, queries are built within the report and visualization are created. This step also includeds determining the publishing and sharing requirements which will drive long term licensing costs. At the end of this phase, the Power BI report will be complete.
Training
Training will include training for the tool administrator, teaching them how to modify, filter and refresh the created report.
Tech Impact also offers Ongoing Support services to help you deepen your use of Power BI and expand it beyond this one proof of concept report.
Timeline
This service spans 6 weeks.
